OYO State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has described the Sage,
ChiefObafemi Awolowo, as his role model in the politics of
development.
The governor made this revelation while speaking with journalists at
thenew motor park Podo, Ibadan, last week, while inspecting some of
the ongoing projects in the state capital, in preparation for the
inauguration of the Mokola flyover bridge in Ibadan.
Ajimobi said "when Chief Obafemi Awolowo ruled the western region
then, his achievement was unprecedented. He became father of social
and political development which other administrators who cameafter him
were managing. We have brought politics of development to Oyo State,
we're father of modern OyoState, those before us were fathers of rural
Oyo State.
"We promise when we came in that we will change the face of Oyo State,
this is what we promised, a state-of-the-art motor park which can
contain 580 cars with shops, restaurant, 24-hour electricity supply
and toilets. In fact, it's a potpouri of commercial outlet," Ajimobi
said.
At Apete community, Ido Local Government, Senator Ajimobi, who after
being briefed by the contractor working on the bridge, reiterated that
the goal of his administration was to find solution to the problems of
the state.
"Our own position is to find solutions to the problems of Oyo State,
having proffered solution to the problem of Apete bridge to solve the
perenial problem of flooding, we will dualise the Apete road to be
able to fit into the good work of the contractor."
The governor, while addressing crowd at Eleyele junction, said he
would construct another neighbourhood market at Eleyele as from July.
This pronouncement generated appaluse from the crowd. Also at Mokola
and Eleyele road, some students as well as artisans trouped out to
hail the governor with chants of 'Action Governor, Atunluse 1.'
