Mark pleads with constituents not to defect to other parties

By HENRY UMORU
ABUJA — Senate President, David Mark, has pleaded with his
constituents not to leave the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, for any
other party because of disagreement.
Senator Mark, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh,
told members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in his area to put
their house in order ahead of next elections, stressing that cross
carpeting on account of any little disagreement was unhealthy for
politics.
Mark, who held a parley with some members of his constituents
weekend, however, renewed his call for peace and mutual cooperation
that would engender progress in the land.
He called for consistency in politics, pointing that "politics is not
synonymous with deceit or inconsistency but steadfastness that should
attract development and welfare for the citizenry."
He urged his constituents to be vigilant to ensure that those he
described as criminal elements did notinfiltrate their ranks to foment
trouble in the senatorial district.
He also tasked his people to police government projects in their
domain as that was the only way the government could be encouraged
to do more.
Mark, who addressed his people at his Otukpo, Benue State, home,
alongside the House of Representatives member representing
Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency, Mr. Ezekiel Adaji, also cautioned
that the administration would be discouraged, if facilities were
vandalized by the people.
Also speaking, Adaji pledged to continue to give his people effective
representation at the National Assembly that would bring development
to the constituency.
Earlier in his remarks, the paramount ruler of Ohimini Ado'himini. Dr.
John Ochai, praised the federal law makers for providing a focussed
leadership that had brought transformation to thearea.
He hinted that the traditional rulers in the area had agreed to confer
on the President of the Senate a befitting chieftancy title in
appreciation of his contributions to the development of the
communities.
